Protective measures

How you can make use of COVID-19 risks as a chance for your health

The risk of contracting COVID-19 is very high if the person is already weakened by previous illnesses such as high blood pressure, diabetes, overweight or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Medical studies have made it clear that many diseases – and here we do not only mean infection with the coronavirus – can be avoided, alleviated or shortened by appropriate preventive measures.

Already by simple measures, but also by appropriate modification of lifestyle, we can clearly distinguish ourselves from the risk group. This does not mean that the risk of infection is thereby excluded, but the possibility of coping with the infection much more easily in the event of infection.

Based on the recommendation of the experts of the Institute for ChronoPsychology and ChronoMedicine, we will now discuss those measures which make it possible to strengthen one’s own body against the risk of infection and to improve the immune defence.

The CORONA PREVENT Program

It is precisely for this purpose that the team of experts at the Institute for ChronoPsychology and ChronoMedicine at Sigmund Freud Private University Vienna has developed the CORONA PREVENT programme, which shows how you can now strengthen your body, mind and family against viruses that appear in a changing environment.

This program guides you through the questions:

  1. How can I recognize my own risk situation?
  2. Which measures are useful for me?
  3. What must I do to stay healthy in the future?

With this program we want to support you and your families to get through the crisis healthy and to use this crisis as a chance for your own health!

Preventive diagnostics for the analysis of the immune system

The interplay of innate and acquired immune responses is of great importance in virus defence. NK cells represent a first important defence line in a viral infection. However, if the viruses cannot be brought under control by the innate immune defence, a second, adaptive immune reaction is triggered. In this process, cytotoxic T cells play a decisive role in addition to the formation of antibodies by B lymphocytes. This special importance of cytotoxic T-lymphocytes in the defence against respiratory viral infections is underlined in numerous studies.

Assessment of the functionality of the adaptive immune system

Biovis’ test procedure EliSpot (D890) can be used to assess the functionality of the adaptive immune system for virus defence. For this purpose, immune cells are stimulated with antigens (recall antigens) of viruses and then the reaction of the cytotoxic T-lymphocytes is assessed on the basis of IFN-gamma secretion. If deficits are observed, the adaptive immune system can be strengthened preventively through targeted measures.

Assessment of the orthomolecular protection factors

Orthomolecular protection factors can also be used to assess the body’s resistance. Vitamins, minerals, iron metabolism, as well as the thyroid, silent inflammation and other clinical factors are analysed.
